Overview
Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a Welder 2/C who will perform welding tasks under supervision, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards in a heavy industrial shipyard environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks with assistance and supervision as needed.
- Attend work regularly and be flexible with hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Comply with safety, ethics, and environmental regulations while performing duties.
- Monitor the working environment for compliance with quality and safety regulations.
- Weld components in various positions including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
- Fit, tack, and weld component parts in position, examining welds for adherence to specifications.
- Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using precision measuring instruments.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts according to specifications.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using various welding techniques.
- Produce high-quality welds with different materials including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalence.
- One to three years experience as a flux core arc welder desired.
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques for fitting and welding.
- Knowledge of ship terminology, welding symbols, safety, OSHA, and ABS regulations.
- Experience with gouging, mirror welding, MIG and stick welding.
- Must pass ABS welding tests to be ABS Certified.
- Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
Additional Information
- The employee must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment.
- The employee must be able to work at heights of a minimum of 50 feet and in confined spaces.
