Overview

Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and test piping for various systems.
- Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision.
- Maintain regular attendance and work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Comply with safety, ethics, and environmental regulations.
- Select specified types and sizes of pipes, fittings, and valves.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
- Bend pipes according to specifications.
- Install and verify operation of high-pressure steel pipes and fittings.
- Repair and replace damaged pipes and fabricate metal fittings.
- Test installed piping systems according to applicable plans.
- Rig and flag cranes to move pipes safely.
- Perform final hook-ups of systems and commissioning.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three to five years of pipefitting/plumbing experience desired.
- Working knowledge of standard pipe craft formulas, materials, and drawings.
- Knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques used in measuring and fitting steel.
- Pass SMAW Tack welding test to become ABS certified.
- Knowledge of welding, ship terminology, and OSHA standards.
- Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
- Ability to read a tape measure and use a cutting torch.
