Overview
The Welder position at Marathon Equipment, part of Environmental Solutions, involves welding and assembling metal parts in a manufacturing setting. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety regulations while operating welding equipment and inspecting parts for quality.
Responsibilities
- Receives and checks parts lists from department supervisors for daily welding/assembly tasks.
- Manually operates welding equipment to assemble various products.
- Examines parts and measures dimensions for conformance to blueprints.
- Chips or grinds out defects in parts before welding.
- Cleans parts of grease or corrosion using appropriate tools.
- Camps broken metal parts together and welds them according to specifications.
- Welds sub-assemblies into final products.
- Visually inspects parts during the welding process to ensure quality.
- Records and maintains inventory of parts used daily.
- Completes inspection forms on products for the Technical Service Department.
- Manually transports metal parts up to 40 pounds to/from storage.
- Performs minor maintenance on welding equipment.
- Observes safety regulations and reports unsafe conditions.
- Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Requires a High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to understand general arithmetic and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Proficient in PC-based applications, including Mainstar, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration.
- Physical ability to walk/stand approximately 70% of the time and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity for operating manufacturing equipment and tools.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and hear for safety purposes.
- Requires visual observation skills for job performance and safety.
