Overview
The Welder Technician, Associate at Greenbrier is responsible for refurbishing and repairing rail car components while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company safety standards. Greenbrier is a leading designer and manufacturer of freight rail transportation equipment and services, emphasizing a culture of safety, quality, and respect for people.
Responsibilities
- Complies with The Association of American Railroads regulations and safety policies.
- Performs tasks under the direction of a Supervisor and notifies them of needed materials or equipment.
- Refurbishes and repairs rail car components using welding and cutting tools.
- Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
- Interacts with team members and assists in training new employees.
- Establishes knowledge of repair procedures from The Association of American Railroads.
- Sets up and operates metal working tools related to the work process.
- Complies with special processes based on work orders.
Requirements
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as rulers and precision tools.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team setting.
- Experience with welding, cutting, gouging, inspecting, and testing tools.
- Experience with welding processes including burning, air arc, and grinding.
- Valid Driver’s License required for positions in Modesto, CA.
- One or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
