Overview

The Boeing Company is seeking a Composite Fabricator to join their Fabrication team in Puyallup, Washington. This role is crucial for ensuring quality and safety in the production of non-metallic components for airplanes, requiring precision in fabrication and assembly while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, rework, repair, and finish non-metallic parts to specifications using various methods.
• Operate mixers, impregnating equipment, heat treaters, curing equipment, and cutting equipment according to procedures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering for design optimization on projects.
• Utilize prints, charts, and engineering drawings to complete work assignments.
• Impregnate materials and cut fabrics to size using appropriate tools.
• Hand and machine finish parts to required tolerances.
• Sand and polish molds for smooth surfaces and wrap mandrels with impregnated materials.
• Place vacuum bags over wrapped parts, test for leaks, and seal leaks in bags.
• Prepare and apply protective materials and parting agents to molds and dies.
• Load, unload, and operate ovens and presses during the curing process.
• Drill, trim, seal, part-mark, sand, and edge break parts.
• Select and secure appropriate tools and equipment for work.
• Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments for accuracy.
• Perform Total Preventive Maintenance on equipment.

Requirements

• 3+ months of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• 3+ months of experience with structural materials and processes.
• 3+ months of experience accessing a database for work instructions.
• 3+ months of experience using precision measuring tools.
• 3+ months of experience in composite materials and fabrication.
• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to walk constantly, stand 6-8 hours, and climb or work from stairs/steps.
