Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Robotic Welder position involves production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts.
• Use GMAW process to tack weld various small components to round or square shafts.
• Manually position shafts on stationary turners for assembly.
• Use jib crane for lifting components into position for assembly.
• Push, lift, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
• Locate and gather parts needed for assembly from the staging area.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel.
• Utilize jigs for cutting holes in shafts.
• Measure distances and angles using tape measure and other tools.
• Perform basic math operations for measurements.
• Work in confined areas to accurately measure and assemble components.
• Use motorized grinders, buffers, and drills to assist in assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Keep management informed of training needs.
• Wear protective equipment to ensure safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment preferred.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools preferred.
• Ability to check one's own work for quality assurance.
