Overview

Valmont Industries is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Large Pole Welder position involves production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.
• Manually position shafts and use a jib crane for lifting components into position for assembly.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
• Use a plasma torch to cut steel and utilize jigs for cutting holes in shafts.
• Measure distances and angles using measuring tools.
• Work in confined areas to assemble components accurately.
• Use motorized grinders, buffers, and drills to assist in product assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Consult management regarding training needs and work comfort.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment or graduation from a Technical Training Program focused on welding.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment preferred.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools preferred.
• Ability to check one's own work for quality assurance.
