Overview
At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, the Sheet Metal Mechanic position involves performing complex sheet metal operations for aerospace components. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work with various tools and machines in a safety-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex hand or machine sheet metal operations to fabricate and repair aerospace parts.
- Assist other trades in fabricating major assemblies involving sheet metal techniques.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, and drill presses.
- Safely utilize hand tools including grinders, drills, and hammers.
- Create drawings or sketches from oral descriptions of objects.
- Read and visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings or blueprints.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of trades training.
- Ability to operate sheet metal working machines.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication preferred.
- 1+ years of experience with shop mathematics including trigonometry and geometry.

Additional Information
- This is an Onsite position on 2nd shift.
- Work hours are from midnight to 7:00 am, working 6.5 hours and getting paid for 8 hours.
- Candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as per FAA regulations.
