Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Welding Technician to support the Field Engineering organization for a semiconductor manufacturing plant project in New Albany, Ohio. The role involves maintaining documentation, assisting in work package preparation, and ensuring compliance with welding standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to field engineers, superintendents, and craft.
  • Oversee and maintain the Project Field Welding program.
  • Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and site requirements.
  • Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
  • Manage and provide oversight of filler metal control and distribution.
  • Coordinate and support the project NDE program.
  • Ensure that only qualified welders are allowed to withdraw filler material.
  • Manage the filler metal and consumable inventory.
  • Interface with the lead welding engineer for direction of work tasks assigned.
  • Perform oversight of inspections and documentation of all subcontractor welding & NDE work in progress.
  • Trouble-shoot engineering design and resolve issues with engineering and/or fabricator as requested.
  • Assist in field Pre & PWHT operations and provide technical direction when necessary.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience.
  • Associate degree or related technical training preferred.
  • Must possess the right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.
  • Must be able to take and pass Bechtel’s Level II VT NDE certification.
  • Knowledge of basic construction principles.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s 'Zero Accidents' safety program.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive.
  • Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
