Position Title: Advanced Welder/Fabricator

Wage: $26-$30/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm

QPS Employment Group is hiring an Advanced Welder/Fabricator for a company in Kansas City, MO. This role requires a highly experienced metalworker with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience beyond welding alone. The ideal candidate is skilled in MIG and TIG welding across steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, and is proficient in layout and blueprint reading. They must be capable of operating a variety of metalworking equipment and leading custom, one-off projects from start to finish outside of standard production. If interested, candidates will take a short paper test on measurements and reading blueprints as well as a weld test. This is an associate to hire opportunity.

Advanced Welder/Fabricator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components according to blueprint specifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layouts to determine welding and fabrication requirements

• Measure, cut, and prepare materials using fabrication tools and equipment

• Clamp, tack-weld, bolt, and position components to achieve proper configuration prior to final welding

• Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions; fill holes, seams, and indentations in fabricated parts

• Operate fabrication equipment such as band saws, shears, brakes, grinders, and other metalworking tools

• Remove rough spots or excess material using grinders, scrapers, or finishing tools

• Set up and adjust welding machines and fabrication equipment based on project requirements

• Lead projects from the initial layout stage through final fabrication, particularly custom or one-off builds

• Maintain self-quality control and inspect finished work to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications

• Palletize completed parts for shipping or movement within the facility

• Work collaboratively with team members to maintain productivity and efficiency

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

• Complete required production or work reports as needed

Advanced Welder/Fabricator Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred

• Minimum 5+ years of metalworking and welding experience, including MIG and TIG welding

• Experience welding steel, aluminum, and stainless steel

• Ability to consistently lift up to 75 pounds

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the shift

• Strong blueprint and print-reading skills with the ability to perform layout work

• Proficiency operating metal fabrication tools, including band saws, shears, brakes, grinders, and similar equipment

• Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/32 of an inch

• Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce high-quality work

• Basic math skills and ability to verify measurements and part quantities

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Reliable, hardworking, and motivated to learn and grow within the role

• Steel-toe boots or steel-toe shoes required

• Adhere to dress code

• Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, hard hat, and other required PPE will be provided

• A high level of hands-on fabrication experience, not just welding
