Position Title: Heavy Plate Welder

Wage: $25-$30/hour Based on experience

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6am-2:30pm

We are seeking experienced Structural MIG Fitter Welders to join this fabrication team in Milwaukee, WI. This role focuses on heavy plate structural welding and fitting, primarily for crane components and large-scale industrial assemblies. Candidates must be comfortable working with .035 and .045 wire and performing high-quality welds in a fast-paced production environment. This is an associate to hire opportunity.

Heavy Plate Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform MIG welding (GMAW) on structural steel and heavy plate materials

• Fit and weld components used in crane fabrication and structural assemblies

• Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols

• Set up and operate welding equipment using .035 and .045 wire

• Ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications

• Use measuring tools to verify accuracy and alignment

• Perform tack welding, layout, and fitting prior to final weld

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

• Follow all company safety procedures and fabrication standards

Heavy Plate Welder Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in structural MIG welding / fitting

• Experience working with heavy plate steel

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings

• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, positions, and procedures

• Ability to operate fabrication tools (grinders, torches, etc.)

• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in a manufacturing environment

• Preferred experience welding crane components or large structural assemblies

• Preferred AWS certifications (a plus, not required)

• Preferred experience with overhead cranes and rigging
