Position Title: Fitter/Welder
Wage: $21-$25/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7am-4pm
QPS Employment Group is hiring a Fitter/Welder for a company in Cudahy, WI. This is an associate to hire role.
Fitter/Welder Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Fabrication & Assembly
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and manufacturing drawings
- Determine materials required and plan work sequence
- Fit, align, and tack weld structural steel components and subassemblies
- Assemble metal sections to form complete units or subunits
- Perform fabrication, grinding, finishing, and adjustments as needed
- Perform repair work and modifications on units when required
Equipment Operation
- Set up and operate fabrication equipment including torches, plasma cutters, drills and die grinders, levels and hammers, overhead crane, and forklifts
- Rig, hoist, and move materials safely throughout the worksite
Quality & Inspection
- Understand product quality requirements and production standards
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure specifications are met
- Detect and report defective materials or fit-up issues
- Make adjustments to meet precise tolerances before final weld
Teamwork & Communication
- Follow proper call-in procedures
- Maintain clear verbal and written communication with supervisors and peers
- Work collaboratively in a team environment
- Support production goals and deadlines
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow OSHA, SDS, and PPE requirements
- Wear required safety equipment at all times
- Conduct daily inspections of tools and equipment
- Report hazards, incidents, or near-misses immediately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
Fitter/Welder Requirements:
- 1-2 years of fitting or structural fabrication experience preferred
- Experience in manufacturing or heavy equipment fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Must supply basic trade tools
- Personal tools required include 25’ tape measure, welding helmet, 12” adjustable wrench, combination square, 2’ square, small pry bar, pliers, wire cutters
