Overview
The Refrigerant Pipe Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigerant piping systems used in HVAC/R applications. This role requires adherence to safety standards, precise workmanship, and a thorough understanding of piping layouts and refrigerant flow.
Responsibilities
- Install and fit refrigerant piping systems according to technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair existing refrigerant pipes and associated components.
- Perform leak checks and pressure tests to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Prepare materials, including cutting, bending, brazing, and welding pipes as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, HVAC technicians, and site supervisors to ensure successful project completion.
- Document all work performed, report deficiencies, and recommend improvements.
- Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on-site.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in piping installation or HVAC/R systems.
- Knowledge of refrigerant types, piping materials, and relevant codes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with brazing, welding, and pressure testing techniques.
- Basic proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Reliable transportation.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and work with pipes and equipment as required.
- EPA 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
- Vocational training or certification in HVAC/R technologies or pipefitting.
- OSHA training or equivalent in safety practices.
- Experience working with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.

Additional Information
- Work is primarily conducted on construction sites, industrial, or commercial facilities where HVAC/R systems are installed.
- The position requires both indoor and outdoor work, sometimes in challenging weather and site conditions.
- Occasional travel to multiple sites may be required.
- This is a full-time position.
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM or set by the construction site.
- This position may require working a Saturday or extended hours as set by the construction site.
