Overview
The Welder position requires the ability to work independently from customer and LB Metal drawings to produce acceptable welds according to industry and customer specifications. The role involves using fabrication tools, maintaining welding equipment, and ensuring a clean work area while adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Produce acceptable welds according to industry and customer specifications.
- Use fabrication hand tools and measuring devices proficiently.
- Adhere to standard hour build rates as directed by the Production Supervisor or cell/team lead.
- Maintain welding equipment and keep the work area clean.
- Follow process work instructions, PQR/WPS, and other verbal and visual instructions.
- Perform acceptable welds in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions using GMAW, FCAW, and/or SAW processes.
- Use carbon-arc gouging equipment, hand-grinding/profiling equipment, and tooling aides.
- Recognize simple visual weld defects.
- Monitor, adjust, and inspect weld quality to meet standards and requirements.
- Confer with Production Support staff and Weld Engineering to resolve weld-related issues.
- Participate in mandatory training and testing.
- Play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to shop rules and safety regulations.
- Be available for some overtime and travel as required.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Pass an eye test (Jaeger 12) with or without glasses.
- Knowledgeable in welding processes and qualifications.
