At Sabre Industries, we connect and power America’s communities with world-class utility and telecom solutions. The Longseamer Trainee position involves using specified welding processes to achieve 100% penetration welds while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs visual inspection of seams to identify areas requiring repair.
• Reads and interprets drawings and/or computer printouts to determine welding requirements.
• Grinds and/or air-arc gouges areas in preparation for welding.
• Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within established procedures.
• Welds required areas using specified processes to obtain 100% penetration.
• Reads and interprets specifications and welding codes to determine preheat requirements.
• Writes entries on daily production log to show work completed.
• Uses overhead crane to position work and move completed poles.
• Uses basic math to perform measurements and conversions.
• Visually inspects work to ensure welds meet specifications.
• Assists and instructs other welders to improve quality and productivity.
• Wears protective equipment to ensure safety during welding.
• Inspects poles for straightness and trims as necessary.
• Uses power drills to drill and/or ream holes in pole sections.
• Welds other products using FCAW or GMAW processes.
• Assembles two-piece developments.
• Determines settings for welding parameters.
• Performs preventive maintenance on seam weld machine.
• Adjusts machine settings throughout the welding process.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of basic shop mathematics including addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals.
• Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
• Ability to properly use a weld gauge.
• Ability to read and write.
• Regular and timely attendance is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs.
• Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts.
• Position requires manual dexterity and a safety-minded individual.
• Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures.
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods.
