Overview

Mission Critical Group (MCG) is an end-to-end power solutions and services provider that accelerates time-to-power and delivers scalable, resilient infrastructure for mission critical environments. The Fitter/Welder Foreman position involves leading a team in welding and fitting sheet metal structures, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to allocate resources for timely project completion.
  • Ensure all work is performed according to quality and safety procedures.
  • Supervise skilled labor and work crews in welding and fitting activities.
  • Requisition appropriate equipment to avoid schedule disruptions.
  • Maintain welding and fitting equipment and ensure safe storage of materials.
  • Lead and supervise manufacturing work in welding and fitting areas.
  • Follow and improve upon policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Act as the point of contact for welding and fitting aspects of projects.
  • Coordinate team activities with other foremen and project teams.
  • Communicate pending issues with project coordinators.

Requirements

  • 6+ years in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a fabrication shop.
  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering science and technology applications.
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and costs.
  • Familiarity with design techniques and tools for technical plans.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their maintenance.
  • Experience in motivating and directing personnel.
  • Considerable knowledge of welding symbols and blueprints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate math skills for manufacturing and distribution.
  • Directly manage and develop a team of welders/fitters.
  • Responsible for workload prioritization and performance management.
  • Preferred certification in continuous improvement methods.
  • Experience in industrial markets or shipbuilding.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.

Additional Information

  • This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis.
  • Overtime may be required based on production demands.
  • Position requires standing for extended periods and working around machinery.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty pounds.
