Overview
This position involves working within teams to weld aluminum and steel trailer frames while adhering to health and safety rules. The role requires proficiency in reading work orders, operating welding machines, and understanding various welding techniques and joint types.
Responsibilities
- Weld aluminum and steel enclosed and aluminum open trailer frames.
- Follow health and safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
- Read and correctly interpret work orders.
- Properly operate welding machines, grinders, torches, tape measures, squares, cranes, and miter/chop saws.
- Read and execute BOM's and blueprints.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of various weld types.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of joint types.
- Demonstrate understanding and application of weld pass positions.
- MIG weld aluminum and steel.
- TIG weld aluminum.
- Use framing jigs for models and layouts.
- Perform within multiple workstations (Frame Table, Walls, Roof, Fab).
- Ensure correct axle placement and squareness.
- Measure, square, and plumb linears prior to final weld placements.
- Ensure ramp doors/gates are installed plumb and square and function properly.
- Grind raised welds in areas covered by flush mount material.
- Inspect work for completion prior to releasing to the next cell.
- Store tools and materials in proper locations when not in use.
- Maintain a clean shop floor between units and at the end of the shift.
Requirements
- Experience using various power and hand tools preferred.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Willingness to cross-train between departments.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions.
- Able to work 40 - 50 hours a week.
- Good attendance is required.
- Ability to stand, reach, bend, kneel, and twist for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to move up to 75 pounds at times.
