Overview

At Materion, everyone is included, respected and offered opportunity to grow. The Dry Box Welder position involves setting up and operating a dry box welding unit to produce various welding materials and requires mechanical skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate dry box welding unit to produce bars from heavy scrap and electrodes for melting.
• Help in the melting of powder and scrap electrodes in the arc furnaces.
• Prepare scrap bars from heavy tantalum scrap ingot, plate, rod crops, etc.
• Produce electrodes for melting in the CMAF and ALD furnaces from powder bars, scrap bars and forged bars.
• Weld powder compacts to electrodes for micro-alloying of ingots.
• Perform routine daily maintenance to keep dry box and associated equipment operable.
• Maintain accurate paper and electronic processing records.
• Track movement of materials in SAP.
• Segregate and handle scrap to avoid cross contamination of materials.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED Vocational degree.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially in welding, preferred.
• Must possess excellent mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Vacuum training is preferred.

Additional Information

• 3rd Shift (Sunday-Friday 10:30pm-7:00am) with training on 1st shift for approximately 3 months.
