Overview
The Commercial HVAC Pipefitter is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems used in commercial HVAC applications. BCI Mechanical is a family-managed private company with a strong foundation of customer relationships and a growing backlog of construction and service projects in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.
Responsibilities
- Install and assemble piping systems for HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and cooling towers.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and isometric drawings.
- Cut, thread, groove, braze, solder, and weld pipe (steel, copper, PVC, etc.).
- Layout and install hangers, supports, and piping systems according to code and project requirements.
- Perform system testing, flushing, and startup support.
- Troubleshoot and repair existing HVAC piping systems.
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and other trades on job sites.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and safety standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area.
Requirements
- 3+ years of commercial HVAC or industrial pipefitting experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of hydronic and refrigerant piping systems.
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with welding and/or brazing preferred.
- Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
