Overview
The Welder I is responsible for performing various welding processes, including preparation, assembly, and finishing, to join fabricated metal components according to specifications and instructions. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret work orders, blueprints, and instructions to determine job requirements.
- Plan work procedures and select appropriate tools and materials for each project.
- Prepare surfaces for welding by cleaning, deburring, and positioning materials.
- Set up, assemble, tack-weld, and fully weld components using appropriate techniques.
- Cut, burn, and weld various metals to fabricate or repair equipment.
Requirements
- Maintain welding equipment and tools to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal welding program (preferred).
- Minimum of 2+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience setting up and adjusting welding equipment for different applications.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Strong understanding of welding setup parameters (e.g., amps, volts, wire speed).
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Basic welding equipment maintenance knowledge.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
