ON TOP ROOFING

Overview

The Custom Metal Fabricator will produce, assemble, and prepare metal roofing components for specialized custom metal roofing systems at On Top Roofing. This role involves translating field measurements, shop drawings, and job specifications into high-precision fabricated parts for installation teams, ensuring quality craftsmanship and exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal roof components including panels, flashings, gutters, coping, and fascia primarily made from steel, aluminum, and copper.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and cut lists.
• Understand technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
• Measure and mark sheet metal according to cut list specifications using various tools.
• Set specifications and operate various fabricating machines, including brakes and shears.
• Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and make adjustments as necessary.
• Manage inventory and material used for the position by organizing stock and tracking material.
• Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to ensure proper fit and timely delivery.
• Keep shop and working areas clean at all times.
• Assist with basic tasks around the shop such as cleaning and loading jobs.

Requirements

• Proven experience in metal shop fabrication, preferably within the construction or roofing industries.
• Proficiency with industrial sheet metal equipment including brake, shear, roller, and fitting tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification or vocational training in metal fabrication or welding preferred.
• Ability to read architectural blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists, and field measurements.
• Strong physical skills, including precision cutting, bending, and welding as needed.
• Basic computer skills for tracking fabrication orders and coordinating inventory.
• Attention to detail for consistent production quality and customer-ready parts.
• Safety-aware mindset, following OSHA and company guidelines.
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
