Overview
The Code Welder plans, lays out, assembles, and installs metal parts and products according to specifications and blueprints. The position requires a wide range of welding skills and the operation of various power tools while adhering to safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Support a philosophy of zero accidents by following safety procedures.
- Pass the ASME Vessel Code Weld test.
- Fit and weld pressurized vessels and pipes.
- Perform Mig and Stick welding operations.
- Short arc, spray arc, and use a torch proficiently.
- Set up, adjust, and maintain welding equipment.
- Read and work from plans, sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Support Manufacturing Engineering on improvement projects.
- Support Lean and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Be flexible to work hours necessary to meet plant requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or two years related work experience.
- Successfully pass a 3G plate test and 6G pipe welding test.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- 2-3 years minimum of related work experience.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, climb, and use a ladder.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull 100 pounds following safety procedures.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of machines, tools, their uses, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques and principles for precision technical plans.
