Overview
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Composite Fabricator to join their Fabrication team in Everett and Renton, Washington. The role involves ensuring quality and safety in the production of non-metallic components for airplanes, requiring attention to detail and technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, rework, repair, and finish non-metallic parts and assemblies to specifications.
- Operate various equipment such as mixers, heat treaters, and curing equipment according to established procedures.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering on design optimization for projects.
- Utilize engineering drawings and work orders to complete assignments effectively.
- Impregnate materials and cut fabrics to size using appropriate tools.
- Finish parts to required tolerances and ensure proper fit within assemblies.
- Sand and polish molds to achieve smooth surfaces.
- Place vacuum bags over wrapped parts, test for leaks, and seal identified leaks.
- Prepare and apply protective materials to molds and forms.
- Load, unload, and operate equipment during the curing process.
- Drill, trim, seal, part-mark, sand, and edge break parts.
- Select and secure appropriate tools and fixtures for work.
- Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments for accuracy.
- Perform Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) on equipment.
Requirements
- 3 months or more experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- 3 months or more experience with structure materials and processes.
- 3 months or more experience accessing a database for work instructions.
- 3 months or more experience using precision measuring tools.
- 3 months or more experience in composite fabrication.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to walk constantly and stand for 6-8 hours per day.
