Overview
This position is accountable for performing welding set up, operations, and activities while ensuring adherence to core competencies such as safety, quality, production, and behavior. The role includes various levels of welding responsibilities, from loading robotic welders to performing preventative maintenance on robots.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload a robotic welder.
- Read and understand part drawings and engineering prints.
- Use current manufacturing software accurately (Epicor).
- Inspect parts as directed by the job inspection level.
- Follow start of job and shift inspections.
- Follow in-process inspection requirements and document to policy and procedures.
- Inspect parts to confirm good or bad welds.
- Operate forklift, crane, and other material handling operations as required.
- Exhibit desired company behaviors and follow company policies, including 5S, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Follow quality policies, standards, and procedures.
- Complete MECR forms for standard verification.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of sheet metal and weld characteristics.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the work area.
- Provide outstanding internal and external communications.
- Support and assist other employees and departments as requested.
- Communicate professionally with employees and managers.
- Work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Adhere to ISO standards.
- Follow quality guidelines and procedures while performing inspections.
- Perform secondary welding and grinding as required.
- Meet productivity and efficiency standards.
- Set up MIG/TIG welds and obtain necessary certifications.
- Program and perform preventative maintenance on robots.
- Train others for Level I and II essential duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Regular, reliable, and consistent attendance.
- Knowledge of and ability to efficiently use ERP systems.
- Ability to be certified in American Welding Society – AWS certification and MIG Certs within two months of hire.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of vocational training or relevant work experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in MIG, TIG, and finishing welding.
- Ability to prioritize and assign work to other welders.
- Demonstrated experience in process and personnel improvement activities.
- Frequent and sustained walking.
- Frequent use of hands and arms.
- Occasional bending, stooping, and squatting.
- Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional reaching at or above/below shoulders.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
Additional Information
- Work schedule is Monday-Thursday from 5:00am to 3:30pm.
