Overview
Under limited supervision, the Welder IV operates all welding equipment and performs all-position welding functions with a high degree of proficiency. The role involves reviewing production schedules, reading blueprints, and ensuring high-quality weldments while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Review the daily welding production schedule with the Production Lead.
- Read blueprints to determine required weld locations, components, and layouts.
- Perform highly skilled weldments with little to no supervision.
- Operate all-position stick and wire welding equipment.
- Weld component parts as required, referring to prints or product books.
- Perform grinding, deburring, and polishing duties for finished weldments.
- Immediately report any issues affecting safety, equipment, tooling, or quality.
- Inspect work periodically to ensure welds meet company standards.
- Manufacture prototype brackets for new or proposed products.
- Perform repairs and re-welds to German DIN and AWS standards.
- Operate barcode scanner/computer equipment.
- Create new and prototype fixtures for proper alignment during welding.
- Perform complex, high-tolerance weld tasks without fixtures when needed.
Requirements
- Must pass an annual Jaeger eye examination.
- Perform work in the plant facility 100% of the time.
- Technical degree in Welding required.
- Minimum of 10 years of skilled welding experience.
- Must pass Schwing America welding tests and maintain certification.
- Knowledge of German and American weld symbols required.
- Qualified to German and American welding standards in all positions.
- Qualified to German DIN EN welding standards.
- Qualified to Table 4.11 in the AWS D1.1 codebook.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read blueprints.
