Overview

Responsibilities
- Perform complex and precise welding using MIG, TIG, and other advanced techniques on a variety of materials and positions.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to plan and execute fabrication of custom components or assemblies.
- Lead fabrication and welding efforts for high complexity builds or prototype projects.
- Verify conformance of work through inspection, measurements, and non-destructive testing as required.
- Mentor and train Welding Technician I and II level staff in best practices, safety protocols, and welding techniques.
- Identify process inefficiencies and suggest/implement improvements in workflow, tooling, or technique.
- Maintain and calibrate welding equipment; troubleshoot machine or equipment malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance as needed.
- Ensure documentation and compliance with all safety procedures, welding certifications, and quality assurance protocols.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production planning teams to resolve fabrication issues or improve designs for manufacturability.
- Demonstrate leadership in adhering to and promoting all safety and environmental procedures.
- Serve as a subject matter expert during audits, training sessions, and project kickoffs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and support 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
Requirements
- Welding Certification, completion of a formal apprenticeship, or equivalent trade experience.
- Minimum 5 years of advanced welding experience (MIG, TIG, GMAW).
- Demonstrated ability to weld to tight tolerances in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and welding symbols.
- Experience mentoring or training others in a welding/fabrication role.
- Strong understanding of welding codes, safety regulations, and quality assurance practices.
- Proven track record of process improvement or technical problem-solving.
- Familiarity with welding inspection methods (e.g., visual, ultrasonic, dye penetrant).
