Responsibilities
- Performs advanced MIG welding operations and executes complex weldments with minimal supervision.
- Performs multi-pass welds and structural welds.
- Reads and interprets detailed blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols.
- Performs full equipment setup and parameter adjustments.
- Inspects welds for quality and dimensional accuracy.
- May train or mentor Welder 1 team members.
- Troubleshoots welding defects such as porosity, undercut, and lack of fusion.
- Operates hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and other shop equipment.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Follows all safety procedures, including PPE usage and equipment handling.
- Reports equipment issues or material shortages to manager or lead personnel.
- Maintains equipment and work areas, keeping them clean and free of safety hazards.
- Fills out required paperwork completely and accurately.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and accountability to work as one team.
- Other job duties may be required as business needs dictate.
Requirements
- 2-5+ years of MIG welding experience.
- Proven production or structural welding background.
- Ability to read detailed drawings, instructions, and weld symbols.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to required weight limits.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Completion of a welding or vocational training program preferred or certification.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment required.
- Proficient with measuring tools such as tape measure and calipers.
