Overview
Riley Power Group, LLC (RPG) is a full-service maintenance and capital construction services company headquartered in Rock Hill, SC, supporting complex industrial construction and maintenance projects across the United States. They are currently seeking skilled Structural Welders for a project located in Groton, CT.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding processes on carbon steel assemblies to required tolerances using various welding metals and joint configurations.
- Capable of Aluminum GTAW welding.
- Determine layouts and weld parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Conduct oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon arc gouging.
- Verify weld size using weld gauges.
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with SSP's and MDD's.
- Lift up to 50lbs multiple times during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
- Stand and walk for extended periods during an 8 to 12-hour shift.
- Occasionally bend from waist, crouch, kneel, and crawl during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
- Climb ladders up to 25 feet occasionally.
- Work in confined spaces with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, and radiation.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
- Demonstrated experience performing welding processes including GMAW-SP, GMAW-P, and SMAW.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of precision calibration tools (weld gauges).
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work multiple shifts.
- Ability to pass respirator fit-check and wear a respirator as required.
Additional Information
- Experience with the fabrication of submarine parts preferred.
- Welding tests will be bent immediately after the test.
- Acceptance criteria is in accordance with NAVSEA Technical Publication S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248.
- Successful candidates must complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements.
