Overview

The Welder B position at Hubbell Incorporated involves the safe and efficient operation of welding machines to produce quality parts for customers. The company, founded in 1888, specializes in critical infrastructure solutions for energy and utility applications.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate all welding equipment and fixtures in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Set-up and adjust welding machine to achieve a quality product.
  • Perform first piece and continual inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and production area in good working order.
  • Follow instructions from lead person and supervisors.
  • Perform minor maintenance on welding equipment and fixtures.

Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have one (1) year experience in welding or minimum of six (6) months as a Welding C.
  • General knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • General understanding of basic welding operations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of proper use of safety equipment, i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, and work boots where necessary.

Additional Information

  • Standing at one station for up to two hours at a time.
  • Work in welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, and other proper welding protective equipment.
  • Work in temperatures of up to 100 degrees at times.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.
  • Work usually takes place in a manufacturing environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements.
