Overview

SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, is seeking Welding Inspectors for contract positions in multiple locations throughout the USA. The inspectors will ensure compliance with welding codes and standards through visual inspections and monitoring of welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections to ensure welds and welding processes comply with codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
• Witness and verify non-destructive tests and their reports.
• Monitor welding parameters and inspect materials and equipment.
• Review quality documents including WPS/PQR and issue reports or recommendations for corrective actions.
• Verify that welders are qualified and that welding procedures and specifications are followed correctly.
• Ensure all welding activities adhere to relevant industry codes and contractual requirements.
• Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections to identify defects and ensure quality.
• Perform visual inspections of welded joints, checking dimensions, penetration, and bead formation.
• Witness non-destructive testing and interpret/verify results.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection results, including any issues found.

Requirements

• Must have at least one of the following: AWS, CWI, CSWIP, or API certification.
• Minimum of five years of industrial welding-related inspection experience.
• Two years of experience in Quality Assurance, vendor surveillance, or shop inspections.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of industry experience, mainly in Oil and Gas.
• Demonstrated knowledge of welding inspections.
• Welding inspection experience at manufacturer shops/facilities.
• Experience with Pipeline and Equipment such as Pressure vessels, Heat exchangers, and Pumps is an asset.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 to 10 hours per day.
• Hourly rate is $40 to $45 per hour plus $0.70 per kilometer.
• No set schedule; inspectors will be contacted as needed.
• Per diem may be considered for inspection sites beyond a round trip of 200 miles from the inspector's residence.
