Overview
The Welder position involves fitting and welding structural and pipe weldments in the manufacturing department. The role requires proficiency in GMAW and GTAW welding processes and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on specifications.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Requirements
- 2-3 years work experience or equivalent school experience in welding profession.
- Good understanding of inspection methods and techniques.
- Must be able to read/interpret blueprints and have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Forklift operating experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Some heavy lifting required.
- Fabrication tooling knowledge (drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, belt sander).
