Job Description

Overview

This is a Welder, WG-3703-11 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Southwestern Division (SWD), Galveston District, Operations Division, utilizing Direct Hire Authority to recruit qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

Perform welder duties using electric, acetylene and/or inert gas shielded welding processes.
Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify or fabricate metal items for all types of equipment.
Work with light, heavy-gauge, and hardened metals, welding all the various types of weldable items assigned.
Operate and control the various movements of the crane and load to avoid quick drops, jerks or sudden movements.
Operate forklifts on uneven conditions to unload vehicles and move materials in outside storage yards.
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to position, bend, shape, or modify assemblies or components safely.
Perform general maintenance, care and minor repair of buildings, grounds, and facilities in support of other work crews.
