McWane Plant & Industrial (MPI) in Exeter, CA is a leader in water control products, providing solutions for water treatment and flood control. The Welder position involves assembling and repairing metal components while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal.
• Clean or degrease weld joint or work piece.
• Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
• Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarring surfaces.
• Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace.
• Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.
• Tack assemblies together.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding is highly preferred.
• Professional credentials from recognized organizations such as the American Welding Society (AWS), including Certified Welder (CW) status.
• Hands-on welding experience through previous jobs or apprenticeships.
• Familiarity with different metals and welding techniques.
• Working knowledge of MIG welding equipment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and technical drawings.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
