Overview
We are seeking a welder to join our team for the welding of galvanized steel fence posts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cutting, fitting, and welding galvanized steel using appropriate welding methods while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Weld galvanized steel fence posts according to specifications and blueprints.
- Cut, grind, and prepare galvanized steel surfaces for welding.
- Use MIG or stick welding techniques suitable for galvanized materials.
- Ensure all welds meet structural and safety codes.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy and durability.
- Follow safety protocols including proper ventilation to minimize fume exposure.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Work in the shop.
- Perform any additional duties that are needed.
Requirements
- Welding experience (preferably with galvanized steel).
- MIG and/or stick welding techniques.
- Ability to work from technical drawings or blueprints.
- Experience with fence post installation is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with grinding, cutting, and surface prep tools.
- Certifications (preferred but not always required): AWS (American Welding Society) certification.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification for construction safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working at ground level and at height.
- Able to stand, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods.
- Reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
