Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Shipfitter/Welder and become a vital part of constructing, repairing, and maintaining maritime and industrial structures. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with skilled professionals in fabricating and welding metal components, ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret detailed schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments to cut, shape, weld, and assemble metal components.
  • Perform welding tasks including arc welding, MIG/TIG welding, and soldering.
  • Conduct heavy lifting operations safely using rigging techniques and mechanical aids.
  • Inspect completed work for quality assurance using tools like ohmmeters and calipers.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspection reports and fabrication logs.
  • Collaborate with team members on shipfitting projects involving electrical systems and mechanical assemblies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a shipfitter and/or welder with strong knowledge of fabrication techniques.
  • Service technician experience or military background is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and electrical diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical systems, vehicle maintenance, or heavy machinery is a plus.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering equipment, and heavy lifting gear.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to sheet metal work, rigging operations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety standards for working around heavy equipment and in maritime environments.
  • Customer service skills are beneficial for team collaboration and client interactions.
