Overview

Delphinus, founded in 1994, is a professional services company with over 650 personnel supporting Defense and Federal markets. The Shipfitter II role involves fabricating templates and assisting in the shipfitting trade.

Responsibilities

  • Helps fabricate template for bending and shaping ship structures, frames, bulkheads, and braces.
  • Assists with measurements, layout, and cutting of templates.
  • Completes pre and post weld checks.
  • Performs chipping, beveling, grinding, and cleaning of surfaces to be welded using power and hand tools.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the worksite.
  • Delivers materials as required.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • May be required to travel for work to other locations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1-5 years of experience in the shipfitting trade.
  • Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) card.
  • Apprentice school or trade school not required, but preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain a security badge for military installations and civilian shipyards.
  • Basic computer skills to enter data into different databases.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
