Overview
Delphinus, founded in 1994, is a professional services company with over 650 personnel supporting Defense and Federal markets. The Shipfitter II role involves fabricating templates and assisting in the shipfitting trade.
Responsibilities
- Helps fabricate template for bending and shaping ship structures, frames, bulkheads, and braces.
- Assists with measurements, layout, and cutting of templates.
- Completes pre and post weld checks.
- Performs chipping, beveling, grinding, and cleaning of surfaces to be welded using power and hand tools.
- Maintains cleanliness of the worksite.
- Delivers materials as required.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- May be required to travel for work to other locations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 1-5 years of experience in the shipfitting trade.
- Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
- Must be able to obtain and retain Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) card.
- Apprentice school or trade school not required, but preferred.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain a security badge for military installations and civilian shipyards.
- Basic computer skills to enter data into different databases.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
