Overview
The Welding Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, welding, and assembly of aluminum and stainless steel components for fuel tank instrument panels and other specialized projects. This role requires expertise in MIG and TIG welding and a solid understanding of fabrication processes to meet project specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welds on aluminum and stainless steel in various positions.
- Assist with the fabrication and assembly of fuel tank instrument panels and other custom parts.
- Examine welds for bead size and specifications to ensure quality standards.
- Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes as required.
- Position, clamp, and assemble workpieces using jigs or fixtures for welding.
- Select appropriate torch, tip, filler rod, and flux based on material type and thickness.
- Assist in the design and fabrication of custom solutions for special projects.
- Perform maintenance and repair on welding equipment and tools.
- Collaborate with the production team for efficient workflow and timely project completion.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of MIG and TIG welding experience in a production environment.
- At least 3 years of experience reading a tape measure and measuring materials.
- At least 1 year of experience with specialized welding techniques for custom projects.
- At least 1 year of experience using weld fillet gauges to ensure proper weld size.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Fabrication experience, including cutting, shaping, and assembling custom parts.
- Experience with fuel tank instrument panels or similar specialized projects is a plus.
- Forklift certification.
