Overview

ATSS is actively seeking skilled Ship Fitters and Structural Fitters for multiple projects across the Mobile area, offering competitive pay and steady hours.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, and assemble structural steel components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.
• Measure, mark, and align materials using hand tools and layout equipment.
• Perform tack welding.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of ship fitting or structural fitting experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform accurate layout work.
• Basic welding ability (tack welding required).
• Strong math skills (measurements, dimensions, material calculations).
• Ability to pass drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Shipyard experience (highly preferred).
• Experience fitting steel and/or aluminum structures.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot fit-up issues.

Additional Information

• Typical schedules include 4x10s (Monday–Thursday) or Monday–Friday with overtime available.
• Work may involve confined spaces and heights up to 15 feet.
• Physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs).
• Mix of long-term shipyard projects and 90-day temp-to-perm opportunities.
