Overview
This is an opportunity for a versatile welder to join a dynamic job shop environment that handles a diverse range of projects, from massive structural weldments to intricate, high-precision components. The role involves interpreting complex technical drawings and executing welds that meet varying standards in a constantly shifting environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality welds on various materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Execute welds on items requiring extremely tight tolerances, ensuring minimal heat distortion and dimensional accuracy.
- Read and interpret advanced weld symbols and technical schematics for both small-scale parts and large-scale industrial weldments.
- Self-inspect work to ensure it meets customer specifications and structural integrity standards.
- Configure and maintain welding machines for different processes (MIG/TIG/Stick) based on the specific needs of the job.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a job shop or custom fabrication environment.
- Ability to understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and how welding processes affect final dimensions.
- Capability to determine the best fabrication sequence for complex assemblies to prevent warping or misalignment.
- Understanding of how different metals react to heat and the ability to select the appropriate filler metals.
- Comfort working on large-scale assemblies as well as small, detailed components.
- Experience with heavy weldment fabrication.
- Familiarity with various finishing techniques for different material types.
- Ability to contribute to 'reverse engineering' discussions for unique repair or replacement projects.
Benefits
- 401k
- Health Insurance
- Dental
- Vision
