Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bench Jeweler to join our team. This role requires hands-on experience in jewelry repair and stone setting, with the ability to work independently on moderately complex pieces while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform jewelry repairs including sizing, soldering, chain repair, prong rebuilding, and clasp replacement.
- Set a variety of stones (e.g., round, princess, basic channel and prong settings).
- Polish, buff, and finish pieces to a high standard.
- Assemble jewelry components from gold, silver, and platinum.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure structural integrity and finish.
- Interpret job envelopes, sketches, or CAD designs accurately.
- Maintain tools and ensure a clean, organized workbench.
- Meet production timelines while maintaining quality standards.
- Communicate with supervisors or team members regarding job status or challenges.
Requirements
- A required bench test to ensure the desired skills are met to a satisfactory level.
- 2–5 years of bench jewelry experience.
- Proficiency in basic jewelry repair and fabrication techniques.
- Experience with torch work, laser welding, and polishing equipment.
- Ability to set stones securely and consistently.
- Knowledge of different metals and their properties.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to change for the needs of the company; flexibility is important.
- Ability to work in a high volume fast paced work atmosphere.
- Experience with custom jewelry work.
- Laser welder experience.
- Understanding of gemstone handling and identification basics.
- Ability to sit at a bench for extended periods.
