Overview
The Welding Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year is responsible for creating a flexible magnet program that fosters student learning and personal growth. This role involves developing skills and knowledge in students while ensuring a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and implementation of the magnet school’s program of instruction.
- Coordinates parent advisory activities and parent education workshops.
- Plans and implements a program of study that integrates student voice and choice with educational standards.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
- Establishes clear objectives for lessons and measures ongoing progress.
- Selects and employs appropriate instructional methods and materials.
- Maintains standards of student behavior and discipline.
- Evaluates and communicates student learning progress regularly.
- Administers group standardized tests as per the District testing program.
- Maintains open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Creates a conducive classroom environment for learning.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times.
- Selects and requests appropriate instructional materials and maintains inventory records.
- Implements effective learning programs and initiates referrals when necessary.
- Provides directions for substitute teachers and supervises classroom aides.
- Collaborates with staff in assessing and helping students with various problems.
- Participates in professional development and collaboration to implement the school’s theme.
Requirements
- Effective communication skills, verbal, written, and digital.

- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of APS community, computer systems, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
- Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate the work of others.
- Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
- Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members, and staff.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related occupational area, or Associate Degree plus 2 years of experience, or Certificate plus 3 years of experience, or High school diploma/GED plus 5 years of experience.
- Valid NM Teacher’s license appropriate to teaching assignment.
