Overview

The Welding Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year is responsible for creating a flexible magnet program that fosters student learning and personal growth. This role involves developing skills and knowledge in students while ensuring a collaborative and innovative teaching environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development and implementation of the magnet school’s program of instruction.
  • Coordinates parent advisory activities and parent education workshops.
  • Plans and implements a program of study that integrates student voice and choice with educational standards.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Establishes clear objectives for lessons and measures ongoing progress.
  • Selects and employs appropriate instructional methods and materials.
  • Maintains standards of student behavior and discipline.
  • Evaluates and communicates student learning progress regularly.
  • Administers group standardized tests as per the District testing program.
  • Maintains open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Creates a conducive classroom environment for learning.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times.
  • Selects and requests appropriate instructional materials and maintains inventory records.
  • Implements effective learning programs and initiates referrals when necessary.
  • Provides directions for substitute teachers and supervises classroom aides.
  • Collaborates with staff in assessing and helping students with various problems.
  • Participates in professional development and collaboration to implement the school’s theme.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of APS community, computer systems, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate the work of others.
  • Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members, and staff.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related occupational area, or Associate Degree plus 2 years of experience, or Certificate plus 3 years of experience, or High school diploma/GED plus 5 years of experience.
  • Valid NM Teacher’s license appropriate to teaching assignment.
