Overview

The Welder (CIP Park Construction) is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining metal portions of City facilities and equipment using various welding methods. The role involves responding to emergencies, performing field repairs, and executing technical maintenance duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Construct, repair, and maintain assigned facilities and equipment requiring welding.
• Follow blueprints or verbal instructions to construct equipment as requested.
• Aid in the construction, maintenance, and repair of chain link fences and sports court backstops.
• Fabricate gates, hinges, latches, frameworks, and related structures.
• Repair, refurbish, and repaint commercial solid waste bins.
• Weld materials and structures for bridges, shade structures, cattle guards, and irrigation systems.
• Analyze type of welding rod required for each specific metal.
• Construct and repair equipment including trailers, drags, rollers, truck end gates, and turf equipment.
• Rebuild hard-surface tractor buckets, blades, and scarifies teeth.
• Assemble playground equipment and fabricate parts as needed.
• Fabricate truck beds including racks and tool boxes.
• Position and weld eye bolts required for rigging purposes.
• Safely transport equipment and crew members to specific job sites.
• Review work orders and assess equipment and materials required for each task.
• Complete requisitions for specific equipment needed to perform duties.
• Service, repair, and clean shop equipment and tools.
• Respond to field emergencies and perform on-site repairs.
