Overview

Westinghouse is seeking a Fabrication Mechanic A for the 3rd shift in Newington, NH, to support clean energy solutions. The role involves following welding specifications and obtaining welding qualifications in line with ASME acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Follow welding specifications and obtain welding qualifications for production welding.
• Weld/fit metal components together per blueprints/engineering drawings.
• Weld seams inside large metal components.
• Grind welds per engineering specifications.
• Grind interior of large metal forgings for coating with stainless steel.
• Set-up and monitor automated welding of interior/exterior seams on large metal components.
• Deburr edges and machined surfaces with small powered hand tools.
• Cut and manually fabricate metal conduit and instrument panel housings.
• Layout and fit cylinders, plate, and cones to drawing and engineering specifications.
• Use overhead lifts per contract guidelines.
• Complete proper training and demonstrate proficiency in specified welding processes.
• Perform testing functions per engineering specifications.
• Wrap and pad product with packing material.
• Attach identification labels or stencils to crates.
• Insert fillers and wrap banding around crates as needed.
• Count items to ensure compliance with shipping orders.
• Complete a pack and ship Production Order.

Requirements

• High school graduate or recognized equivalent.
• Three years of fabrication experience or at least one year as a Westinghouse Newington Fabrication Mechanic II.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, weld symbols, welding procedures, and dimensional requirements.
• Experience reading blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
• Operational experience performing layouts of large and small components.
• Qualified and proficient in all welding positions of carbon and stainless steel for two welding processes.
• Proficient in plasma cutting, carbon arc, oxy-acetylene burning and cutting, and grinding of specified materials.
