Overview
General Trailer Parts is a trailer manufacturing facility located in Springfield, Oregon, operating an integrated production process from raw material to finished products. The Welder/Fitter II is responsible for fitting, welding, and assembling structural trailer components according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform fitting, fabrication, and welding tasks in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.
- Execute welding operations using FCAW, stick welding, and plasma cutting techniques.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine project requirements and work sequences.
- Measure and inspect fabricated components using calipers, tape measures, and other precision instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to position and move components throughout the production floor.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflow and ensure the timely completion of production orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company safety standards and protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support team and production goals.
Requirements
- Proficiency in FCAW, plasma cutting, and welding torch operation.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Working knowledge of welding equipment operation, maintenance, and workplace safety protocols.
- Experience using precision measuring tools including calipers and tape measures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Familiarity with operating overhead cranes or similar material handling equipment preferred.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in structural fitting and fabrication required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment operation, and industry safety standards.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.

Additional Information
- 10-hour shifts; additional overtime hours required based on production demand.
- This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, heat, loud noise, and heavy equipment.
- Employees must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
