Overview

The Weld Prep Mechanic position at AMETEK involves the fabrication and assembly of sub-components for heat exchangers, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications. The role requires mechanical skills and the ability to work with various tools and equipment in a clean and organized environment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble sub-components for heat exchangers to drawing specifications.
• Prepare cores for use in the welding area, including straightening and soap testing.
• Clean and prepare sub-components for use in the welding area.
• Set up cores and sub-components in welding fixtures.
• Test cores in leak tanks, ensuring certification requirements are met.
• Review all welds for flaws such as missing welds and voids.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation following 5S instructions.

Requirements

• Must be mechanically inclined.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and various hand tools.
• Must be able to read, write, and converse in English.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Shop floor experience is a plus.
• Must have legal right to work in the US and access to export-controlled information.
