Overview
Waterfront Services & Supply is seeking a skilled and reliable Maritime Welder/Fitter/Fabricator to support marine operations, including vessel repair, underwater support projects, structural fabrication, and marine salvage efforts. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipyard or offshore environments and be capable of performing high-quality welding and fabrication work under demanding conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, fitting, and fabrication on barges, vessels, docks, and marine structures.
- Support marine salvage, underwater inspection, and repair operations in coordination with dive teams and ROV operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
- Execute welding using TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and FCAW processes.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel, piping, and custom marine components.
- Perform repairs, reinforcements, and modifications on marine equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure all work complies with ASME and AWS standards and certifications.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure integrity and quality.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure tools are in safe working condition.
- Follow all marine safety protocols, including confined space and over water work procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, divers, and vessel crews to complete jobs efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a welder/fitter/fabricator in the maritime, shipyard, or offshore industry.
- Proficiency in TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and FCAW welding.
- Valid AWS (American Welding Society) certifications required.
- Working knowledge of ASME codes and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Comfortable working in marine environments, including over water, confined spaces, and variable weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Physically capable of performing demanding labor, including lifting, climbing, and extended periods of standing.
- Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Confined Space Entry, or TWIC (if applicable).
- Pipe welding and structural fabrication experience in marine settings.
