Overview

Riggins Company, located in Hampton, VA, is seeking a full-time structural fitter/fabricator to join our growing and exciting team. We are a custom steel fabricator specializing in the design and fabrication of major structural components supporting the US Navy.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Lay out and measure materials using precision tools.
• Cut, shape, and fit metal components using hand tools and power equipment.
• Align and position structural parts prior to welding or bolting.
• Tack weld components when required.
• Inspect fit-up to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances.
• Operate equipment such as grinders, torches, and hoists.
• Follow safety standards (OSHA) and company procedures.
• Work collaboratively with welders, engineers, and supervisors.

Requirements

• Ability to read technical drawings and weld symbols.
• Strong understanding of structural fabrication and layout techniques.
• Proficiency with measuring tools and fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of metal properties and tolerances.
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions.
• Welding experience (preferred but not always required).
