Overview
The Welder III (Pipe Welder) is a full-time role at L&L Fabrication Welding facilities, focusing on complex welding tasks requiring NDT with a 100% passing expectation. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork while allowing for additional responsibilities such as fitting parts and training team members.
Responsibilities
- Weld Non-Code and Code articles to satisfactory quality.
- Perform GMAW, FCAW, SMAW welding per WPS.
- Achieve 100% NDT Joints.
- Process materials with accuracy and efficiency.
- Use oxy-fuel, plasma, saw, mag-drill, and grinder safely.
- Drive a forklift safely and appropriately.
- Participate in team settings to develop welding and fabrication skills.
- Lead the introduction of new procedures into the facility.
- Plan details of work order procedures and gather required tools and materials.
- Repair and fabricate various items using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
- Monitor welding, burning, and fitting processes to prevent damage.
- Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces.
- Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area.
- Notify supervisor of faulty equipment or defective materials.
Requirements
- Must pass 3G weld test on ¾” plate (GMAW Root / GMAW-Pulse or FCAW hot and cap).
- Must pass 6G weld test on 2 XXH pipe (SMAW Root / GMAW-Pulse or FCAW hot and cap).
- Ability to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
- Manual dexterity and stability for precision work.
- Ability to see details at close range.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at any time, 50 pounds regularly, and 100 infrequently.
- Ability to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
