Overview
Delta Metals Inc. is Southeast Georgia’s largest sheet metal and roofing contractor, founded in 1959. They provide high quality products and superior service at competitive prices, and are looking for an experienced welder/fabricator to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Operate ironworker power shears, grinders, metal forming equipment, and various welding equipment and hand tools.
- Analyze plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments.
- Follow welding procedure specifications when welding and efficiently produce quality welds.
- Perform or assist with fit-up and preparation of welds and with post weld cleanup, inspection, and repair.
- Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns on the job site.
- Comply with all HMT safety policies and programs.
- Review schematics to ensure proper equipment and materials; recommend supplies and materials that need to be ordered.
- Set up welding equipment on-site.
- Heat the metal using a torch and shape the material according to the design.
- Join the metal piece to the rest of the construction.
- Follow all safety protocols and clean up workspace upon completion.
- Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment.
- Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask sealing.
- Perform daily housekeeping in the shop.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass 2, 3, 4G plate tests.
- Must have a working knowledge of welding techniques (Electric Arc, MIG, and TIG), tools, and equipment.
- Must be able to operate and read a tape measure.
- Ability to read and write in English required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate.
- An AWS certificate is preferred.
- 8+ years welding and fabricating experience is a must.
- Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such as timecards.
