Overview
The Welder will efficiently operate automatic and stick welders to fabricate, repair, cut, and braze metal using various welding equipment. This role involves repairing parts, cleaning components, inspecting work, and maintaining compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts using welding equipment.
- Clean and/or degrease parts using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
- Inspect finished workpiece for adherence to specifications.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scraper or power chipper.
- Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
Requirements
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, Vocational training preferred.
- Must have minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing and operations.
- Professional certification is a plus.
- Performs work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
- Ability to safely perform essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent walking and/or standing is required.
- Frequent bending, pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying of parts.
